Here and there- No, I must have missed that tiny spot, here! SCREACH, SCRATCH! So so much dust has gathered in here oh- *cough cough* MY! Can you see anything, this text or any visuals? ‘What is going on’ you might be wondering: I am trying to clear up the dust and remains of dirt from this blog right now. Yes, done! Now onto the festivities...
I was once again on my way to Datça, the holiday destination of mine where I stay during summers with my grandparents. My father, being my travel companion for the trip, would drive all the way to our quest marker, for about 10 hours straight. He, however, had heard of some lavender based event being held on the road and of course I could not reject the offer! We would go to Kuyucak and bask in the glory of purple haze.
The grand re-opening shall be done with some celebration! Come then, follow me to the festival grounds- well, to the village of Kuyucak. Fresh beauty resonating in the air, lavender fields proving to be a lovely feast for the eyes! I hope you enjoy your stay here, let me tell you how everything started.
Some lavender close up, look at those pretty tints and shades!

It was very crowded, for so many people all around Turkey were attending; yet, I did not wish to capture to hassle and bustle of the people in my photos. Therefore, you will have some serene, wholesome moments rather than well...crowds and discord.
An exemplary view of some small lavender fields. There were larger patches and all, but having been invaded by people, I did not really want to take photos of those bigger areas of lavender.
We got some nifty goods for very affordable prices from the stalls: A bag of dried lavender for cooking (which I have used for Lavender ice tea mmmm), a bundle of flowers for photos and decoration, later to be dried, a lavender crown, cologne and...I think that was all? *nervous giggle* And then, it was time for wandering around, laughing and of course for the photos to come!
There were also sunflowers which I started to absolutely adore a while ago. Those earthly incarnates
of sunshine... My inner artsy aesthetic blogger or whatsoever was cheering upon them, and let me show you some captures by me and of me (by my father):
After our glorious time at the village, we set off to Datça once again, though we would stop at one more place: One of the dozens of ancient cities built within these lands - Sagalassos.
The archeological site dates back to circa 3000 BC as far as I can recall and the Antonin Fountain within, is a marvellous site to behold. I would like to tell that the fountain was believed to be a source of love, for the water would serve as a love potion according to the beliefs. Interesting, is it not? Without further ado, here are my visual impressions from Sagalassos.
Lavender strikes again hehehe!
We did not stop there, but we also kind of paid a visit to the crater lake of Salda. I may attempt to benefit from the mud of healing properties there, as well as burying my feet within the white sandy shores. Of course I would love a swim as well, hopefully next time.
After all these tiny but nevertheless quite enjoyable visitations, we went our way to the holiday destination. These interesting sights on our way definetely made the road trip a bit less tiring but nevertheless, it surely was exhausting, even for me. And I was not even the driver!
I hope you too have enjoyed your virtual travels with me. I really would like to hear your thoughts and remarks on this blog post, for every comment and hints of engagement help immensely! Any new blog post ideas you might recommend? Curiously awaiting your input!
All the sunshine and sparkles to you!
(Of course with the addition of some sweet lavender ‘perfume’)
Enjoy your day!
Gosh, how do you look so dainty and elegant all of the time? SHOW ME YOUR WAYS!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to visit a lavender field some day. And after reading your blog and going through the photos attached to it, I have the strangest urge to visit a sunflower field as well.
Thank you for bringing us along on your journey!
It looks lovely over there in Turkey! It would be cool to make a visit someday. A lot of my friends were on vacation in Turkey a couple of years ago.
ReplyDeleteThat lavender crown is simply gorgeous! And I too love sunflowers. They’re actually my favorite type of flower. You know, I’ve never actually visited a lavender field. I’ve bought lavender products from the booths at farmers markets and the like (and the smell of lavender on a sweater is intoxicating) but I imagine a field full of them must smell so soothing and look so peaceful on its own. Maybe one day I will have a small patch of lavender to call my own, along with some sunflowers.
