“One more night
To bear this nightmare
What more do I have to say”

What better way to set the foundations of a post on one musical genius, than by inserting the lyrics of a quite fitting song? I thought it would be captivating or at least appropriate indeed, so here we are! Welcome welcome. Today I would like to talk a bit on Maglor a.k.a Kanafinwë Makalaurë Fëanorion, a long collection of words I know, but such is the tradition of J.R.R. Tolkien regarding the Elven names. *cough* I was almost drifting away from the actual topic, almost.
Maglor...He is one fascinating character, from his gentle spirit to his perilous side; musician, brother, murderer...
It was certainly intriguing and fun to “cosplay” this character, cosplay in question marks as I would not call myself a proper cosplayer, no, I merely am someone who draws the items from my wardrobe and play along. Let me show you my full outfit, it is nothing glorious or complex but I thought the results would be fitting for the final pages of the story, the end of Quenta Silmarillion and of an era.
Here it is! *tada*
The shirt I had been lying around for a long while, constantly being exploited for regal outfits and even for Elven cosplays. *cough* Maedhros *cough* With the addition of some dark Elven locks, the more masculine make-up, (a variation of the one I put on for daily ventures) and the awkwardly short yet beloved belt, I was ready. Oh, and the cape was a must in my interpretation, considering that the brothers Maedhros and Maglor disguised themselves to well...steal the Silmarils that in the past rightfully belonged to them.
Assassin’s Creed style, fitting, right?
Of course, I had to take photos by the sea, wandering by the shores in eternal lamentation. This had to be done, yes, hence I met my father and we went straight to the crossroads of Mediterranean and Aegean Sea, an ancient city called Knidos. It was appropriate, after all in my comic ‘Quietus’, I imagined Maglor returning to the citadel of his brother, to Himring after the events of utter devastation. The ruins were almost perfect for this concept, so there we marched. (Or drove to be exact)
The first page of the comic that I never completed.
The sun was scorching hot and the weather foul but it was endurable still. Nonetheless, I cannot say I am made for hot weather, no no no not at all! We took some photos, some of them acceptable and some of them pretty treacherous. Let me show you some angst from the collection:
Look at those gorgeous ruins, it was certainly breathtaking!
Many photos required some minor tweaking in order to isolate the character from other people and the traces of modern technology. Hence, I used some phone editing magic, or tried to use led us say, and created these scenes. Of course I had to put an overload of filters and such, I had to...
Before and after
Thus comes the time for a huge photo dump, from Knidos ruin captures to blood soaked hands of a repenting Elf. Well, I may be exaggerating a bit. Behold!
The Silmaril burnt his hands, time gleaming, pain enfolding him.
I wonder what is written up there? Very mysterious and intriguing.
Excuse my acne covered face, my excoriation disorder and anxiety has gotten worse.
BONUS: Me and my father, such a glorious facial expression. I look very handsome, right? *laughs*
“And it is told of Maglor that he could not endure the pain with which the Silmaril tormented him; and he cast it at last into the Sea, and thereafter he wandered ever upon the shores, singing in pain and regret beside the waves.”

Through my music, through my silent devotion”

I leave you with the song that sparked inspiration for this post. Have you read The Silmarillion? If so, who is your favorite character? If you did not, well, you can always comment on the quality of the post and add your impressions, thank you! *giggles*

ReplyDeleteThank you so very much! Hehehe. xD Thank you so very much but you already have the skills to sew and craft. Besides, mine was acquired straight from my wardrobe which means I did not create anything myself apart from the edits, poses and drama.
